OUR BELIEFS

What Does it Mean to Say "I Believe Something is True"?

What an individual believes matters.

Our belief systems compel our actions, attitudes, and behaviour.  This is why Shiloh has a set of core values upon which it builds the foundation for both living in this world and ultimately —transitioning to heaven.

Our belief statements derive from the Word of God.

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and as a result is the only infallible and authoritative rule for faith and conduct.  (Isaiah 55:10-11; Mark 13:31; St. John 5:39; Acts 18:28; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 4:12).

  • We believe in the existence of one true God, who is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient.  He is the Father in the creation of mankind, animals, the earth and the universe, the Son in the act of redeeming humanity from eternal destruction, and the Holy Spirit through His power to regenerate and indwell us personally. (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; St. John 1:1-3; St. John 14:6-11; 1 John 5:7).

  • We believe that God created Man in His own image, innocent, pure and holy; that his fall and banishment from the Garden of Eden was because of disobedience (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:20-22).

  • We believe in water baptism by immersion in Jesus' name for the remission of sins as recorded in Acts 2:38; 8:15-16;10:47;19:5-7).

  • We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of “speaking in other tongues" as the Holy Spirit gives the ability,” and in the manifestation of the Holy Spirit operative in the Church of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:4).

  • We believe in the five-fold ministries God gave to His Body:  Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers, “For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry” (Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Corinthians 12:28).

  • We believe in observing the Lord’s Supper as a memorial of His broken body and the New Testament in His blood (Matthew 26:26-28; 1 Corinthians 11:23-34).

  • We believe in The Great Commission to the Church to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every one or every creature was given by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to His apostles and to us today (Matthew 24:14; Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18).

  • We believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ (Matthew 24; Acts 1:11; 3:19-21; Philippians 3:20) and that “the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (I Thessalonians 4:16).

  • We believe that an individual receives salvation by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and obedience to the word of God by asking for the forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 2:5-8).
